Prosperity ROSE for the Community is building a team of volunteers who want to help our neighbors access free, reliable tax preparation assistance while creating a welcoming and supportive experience.
You do not have to be a tax professional to make an impact. There are several ways to serve.

For many households, filing a tax return is about much more than paperwork. It can mean accessing refunds and tax credits, getting answers to important questions, and having someone available to guide them through the process.
Our volunteers help create a welcoming environment where individuals and families can receive support with dignity and respect.

There Is a Volunteer Role for You
You don't have to prepare tax returns to volunteer. Our program needs people with different skills to help make tax season successful.
Volunteer Tax Preparer
Work directly with taxpayers to prepare eligible federal and state tax returns. Tax preparation volunteers complete required VITA training and certification before preparing returns.
Greeter
Be one of the first friendly faces taxpayers meet. Welcome clients, assist with check-in, help manage taxpayer flow, and create a positive experience from the moment they arrive.
Intake & Screening
Help taxpayers review intake information and confirm that required documents are available before their return preparation begins.
Quality Reviewer
Review completed returns for accuracy and completeness before they are finalized. Appropriate training and certification are required for this role.
Interpreter
Help bridge language gaps and make our tax preparation services more accessible to community members who prefer communicating in another language.
Technology Support
Help with computers, printers, connectivity, software access, and other technology needs that support tax-site operations.
Community Outreach
Help spread the word about free tax preparation, connect with community organizations, distribute program information, and help residents learn about available services.
Administrative & Site Support
Help with scheduling, communications, supplies, volunteer coordination, taxpayer flow, and other behind-the-scenes needs that keep the program running smoothly.
No Tax Experience? That's Okay.
Volunteers receive training based on the role they choose. Tax preparation and quality-review volunteers complete the applicable VITA certification requirements before working on taxpayer returns.
Role Training
Learn the responsibilities, procedures, confidentiality expectations, and processes for your volunteer position.
Tax Training & Certification
Volunteers serving in tax preparation roles receive tax-law training and complete the required certification for their role.
Ongoing Support
You won't be serving alone. Volunteers work together as a team with guidance and support throughout tax season.
You Don't Have to Be a Tax Expert.
We're looking for dependable, community-minded volunteers who are willing to learn, serve others, protect taxpayer confidentiality, and help us create a positive experience for the individuals and families we serve.
